The payment gateway is the part of a Gulf online shop that most often goes wrong late. A shop gets designed, the products go in, and then the owner finds out the gateway they planned on does not take businesses in their country.
We checked each provider's own website and documentation on 6 November 2026. Providers change their coverage, so treat this as a starting list and confirm with the provider and your bank before you commit.
The two surprises for Qatar
Stripe does not support Qatar businesses. Stripe's global availability page lists the UAE, but not Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman.
Shopify Payments is not available in Qatar. Shopify's supported countries list includes the UAE but not Qatar. A Shopify shop in Qatar can still work, but it needs a third-party gateway, and Shopify may charge its own transaction fee on top when you do not use Shopify Payments.
Providers that list Qatar
| Provider | What their own site says | Plugins |
|---|---|---|
| SkipCash | Qatar payment provider | WooCommerce plugin on WordPress.org |
| Dibsy | Qatar only, licensed by the Qatar Central Bank | Check with Dibsy |
| PayTabs | UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and others | Check with PayTabs |
| MyFatoorah | Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and others | WooCommerce and Shopify |
QPay (NAPS) is Qatar's local debit card network. Shops usually accept it through a gateway rather than directly, so ask your provider whether they take QPay cards.
Providers that list the UAE
| Provider | What their own site says | Plugins |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | UAE available | Official WooCommerce plugin; not used with Shopify |
| Shopify Payments | UAE listed | Built into Shopify |
| Network International (N-Genius) | Middle East and Africa | Shopify, WooCommerce and others |
| Telr | UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan | Shopify |
| Tap Payments | Gulf payment provider | WooCommerce, Shopify and others |
| MyFatoorah | UAE and other GCC countries | WooCommerce and Shopify |
Buy now, pay later
Tabby and Tamara both list the UAE and Saudi Arabia in their own documentation. Both have been reported as expanding to Kuwait. If instalments matter to your customers in Qatar, Bahrain or Oman, ask the provider directly before you plan around it.
How to choose
- Start with your bank. Ask which gateways they already work with. Settlement into an account you already have is simpler.
- Check the platform. If you are on Shopify in Qatar, you need a provider with a Shopify integration. On WooCommerce, check that the plugin is maintained and recently updated.
- Check the cards your customers use. In Qatar, that includes QPay debit cards.
- Read the fees in full. Setup fee, monthly fee, percentage per sale, and how long until the money reaches your account.
- Test before launch. Every provider has a test mode. A real test order, refund included, should happen before the first customer arrives.
What we do
When we build a shop, we check the gateway against your country, your bank and your platform before we quote, and we run test orders before launch. Street 55, a Qatar shop we built on WooCommerce, takes payment in riyals through a local processor.
Shops start at AED 6,900. See online shops for Gulf businesses or the Gulf price list.
